KATY JONES
Katy Jones joined the affiliate in May 2008,
as Media and Communications Coordinator. She received her
undergraduate degree in journalism and broadcasting from Oklahoma
State University and a master’s degree in education from the
University of Central Oklahoma. Jones is currently a second-year law
student at Oklahoma City University, where she is president of the
ACLU of OCU and Public Interest Law Group.
Prior to her employment at the ACLU of Oklahoma, Jones taught elementary
education in Oklahoma City Public Schools, was an editor for The Daily O’Collegian, and worked in several capacities in the bar and restaurant
industry. She is the main contact at the affiliate for the press, as well as
maintaining the Liberty newsletter and
www.acluok.org.
Jones’ legal interests are rooted in human rights issues and defending the
First Amendment. She is particularly committed to the rights of
women and children in developing countries and is an advocate for sustainable farming education in these areas. Her
personal interests range from equestrian to martial arts, as well as travel.
