Bio

Jane English joined the ACLU of Oklahoma in 2026 as a paralegal. A lifelong Edmond resident, she initially graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s in Education in English in 2009. While there, she taught in classroom grades eight through twelve. Having come from a challenging background herself, Jane is a passionate fighter for social justice, equality of opportunity, and advocating for those in need. From 2011 to 2015, this took the form of blogging and volunteering for various local campaigns, but grew into taking more direct action. In 2016, Jane began assisting individuals in the local transgender community with filing for legal name changes and continues to connect the community with necessary legal resources. She went on to co-found Edmond’s first 2SLGBTQ+ Pride organization in 2018, and has since volunteered for The Diversity Center of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma chapter of Free Mom Hugs.

After years of this advocacy, Jane decided to expand her work, and in 2025 she enrolled in the Center for Legal Studies program affiliated with Oklahoma City Community College to receive her initial paralegal training. Shortly thereafter she joined the ACLU of Oklahoma, eager to both grow as an individual and fight for the rights of her fellow Oklahomans.

In her free time Jane loves to journal, game, travel, and spend time with her chosen family. She is the mother of one adult daughter and hopes to adopt a baby or young child in the coming years.
