The rejection of State Question 790 will preserve the current church/state balance in Oklahoma government. By rejecting 790, Oklahoma voters rejected the attempt to engineer a return of religious monuments to Oklahoma government buildings, including the Ten Commandments Monument formerly at the Capitol. This means that the prospective federal First Amendment case settling the outstanding issues of religious monuments and the Establishment Clause will not happen here in Oklahoma.
