Together, we will explore the 6th St. Experience, a walk-through educational experience from The Spero Project outlining 3 different immigration processes: The Refugee Journey, Seeking Asylum, and Afghan Placement and Assistance. You will also learn current information and actions regarding immigration and have the opportunity to learn more about the home cultures of many of our neighbors in Oklahoma and action steps for ways to get involved. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is strongly encouraged.

The Multiculturalism Committee of Ada and the ACLU of Oklahoma are hosting an Advocacy 101 Training at East Central University next month. This nonpartisan session is perfect for anyone interested in community leadership or civic engagement. It’s designed to provide practical tools for residents to speak up, get involved, and navigate local issues effectively. All are welcome! The ACLU of Oklahoma Board of Directors and staff invite you to join us at our Annual Membership Meeting and Angie Debo Award Ceremony on Saturday, May 2, 1 – 3 p.m. at the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center. The American Civil Liberties Union understands that creative industries have the unparalleled ability to ignite conversation, fuel action, and inspire people to stand up for what matters. Artists are moving people and igniting change in profound and lasting ways – they are fighting for freedom and the recognition of shared humanity. We invite you to join us on May 2, 2026, as we feature an ensemble of trailblazing Oklahoma artists speaking on Art as Activism. Panelists will include Denise Duong, Tony Thunder, and Carlos Barboza. The moderator for the panel is renown screenwriter, novelist, film producer, and arts advocate, Melissa Scaramucci. Annual Meeting attendees will each receive one limited-edition print from artwork contributions the panelists have made to the ACLU of Oklahoma. We will also present this year's Angie Debo Award and give an update on the state of civil liberties and civil rights in Oklahoma. This event is free and open to the public. Join us for a vigil in support of the Community, Not Cages Day of Action. We will be in community with impacted individuals who will share their stories about the inhuman conditions of ICE detention facilities and the deportation of innocent people.

Through our efforts, we strive to foster a culture of empathy by validating the humanity of people incarcerated on death row and advocating for their fundamental rights. Together, we declare, Not in My Name: we stand against the ultimate and irreversible act of state-sanctioned violence. We are so excited to have you join us, as we host Advocacy Day on Thursday, March 12, at the Oklahoma State Capitol. As you probably know, the work of the ACLU is now more critical than ever, and we want this year’s attendance to be the biggest yet. Please complete the following registration form, and we will be in contact with further details. The first 80 people who register are guaranteed to receive a free limited-edition ACLU of Oklahoma t-shirt. Please submit one registration entry for every person (children too) who will be with us, so that we can have an accurate count for food and beverages.
