The Multiculturalism Committee of Ada and the ACLU of Oklahoma are hosting an Advocacy 101 Training at East Central University next month. This nonpartisan session is perfect for anyone interested in community leadership or civic engagement. It’s designed to provide practical tools for residents to speak up, get involved, and navigate local issues effectively. All are welcome! Together, we will explore the 6th St. Experience, a walk-through educational experience from The Spero Project outlining 3 different immigration processes: The Refugee Journey, Seeking Asylum, and Afghan Placement and Assistance. You will also learn current information and actions regarding immigration and have the opportunity to learn more about the home cultures of many of our neighbors in Oklahoma and action steps for ways to get involved. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is strongly encouraged.

Oklahoma's criminal legal system has failed to protect the innocent, those with serious mental health conditions, and individuals who have suffered adverse childhoods from execution. We cannot allow this to continue! Capital Punishment is racist, arbitrary, costly, and error-prone. It is time to end the death penalty once and for all. The mission of the Not in My Name Coalition is to raise awareness, educate, and mobilize individuals and groups to take a stand against the use of capital punishment in the state of Oklahoma. Join us for an afternoon of community and solidarity! The purpose of the “Write the Row” program is to affirm the humanity of the folks on death row and ease their feelings of isolations through letters of encouragement. Letter writing materials and snacks will be provided. Please join us and invite your friends and families to attend!

With Flock Safety's license plate reader (LPR) technology, law enforcement agencies across the country can track Oklahomas drivers in real-time — without a warrant, probable cause, or even reasonable suspicion of wrongdoing. Flock's nationwide data sharing model puts our civil rights and civil liberties at risk. Join the ACLU of Oklahoma and partners for a presentation from ACLU National and a panel conversation as we discuss Flock's nationwide data sharing model and how local police departments that contract with Flock can choose to share the LPR data. We are ecstatic to have you join us, as we walk in the annual Oklahoma City Pride Parade on Sunday, June 28th. As you probably know, the work of the ACLU is now more critical than ever, and we want this year's parade group to be the biggest yet! Please complete the following registration form and we will be in contact with further details. The first 80 people to register are guaranteed to receive a free limited-edition ACLU of Oklahoma t-shirt.
