As part of an ongoing commitment to promoting civic literacy, the session is designed for any community member interested in learning how to effectively participate in the local decision-making processes that shape our city.

The seminar provides residents with a comprehensive toolkit for community-based leadership. By focusing on the practical mechanics of civic interaction, the Multiculturalism Committee aims to empower attendees to navigate local administrative structures and communicate their perspectives with confidence. The program emphasizes that civic engagement is a vital skill for every resident, offering a neutral space to develop the ability to address community concerns and work toward collaborative local solutions.

The ACLU of Oklahoma joins the committee in this effort as a privately funded, nonpartisan organization dedicated to securing liberty, justice, and equity for all. Through workshops like Advocacy 101, both organizations aim to ensure that every member of the Ada community has the knowledge and resources to be an active, informed, and effective participant in our shared civic life.

Carly Heitland, ACLU of Oklahoma Organizing Manager and Delanie Seals with East Central University will be available for comment following the training.

For updates on this event and other upcoming community resources, the public is encouraged to follow the Multiculturalism Committee of Ada and the ACLU of Oklahoma on Facebook. If you have questions regarding the seminar, please contact Delanie Seals via email at delanieseals@gmail.com.
