We know the response to COVID-19 takes the full capacity of you and your staff to adequately address public health concerns that must be addressed by the minute.
Attached you will find a draft of an executive order addressing the most urgent next steps in addressing COVID-19 in our prisons and jails before it becomes a crisis that overwhelms not only custodial care providers, but the Oklahoma medical system at large.
The State of Oklahoma has an opportunity and a responsibility to respond to this custodial health issue that, if unaddressed, could create larger problems than any agency or provider will have capacity to handle in the coming days. We stand ready to work with you and your administration and every leader of this state to face this unprecedented emergency.
